Annoying Twitter outages
They’ re getting more frequent and last longer lately, and the sappy error messages only add insult to injury.
Twitter users would be better served by devs working to permanently fix what’s ailing the service than the management trying to come up with uninformative but ever cuter Hello Kitty-style error screens, like the one below:
"Something is technically wrong"? No shit… A little more of that and I think I’ll migrate to the Jeremiah Owyang camp on silly patronizing corporate communications.
Maybe Dave Winer’s onto something, with all the talk about a decentralized Twitter. Maybe we’ve already had something like this for ages. Or, maybe, we all just need to migrate to a better developed and maintained microblogging service if this keeps up.
PS: To all the friends who complain about my ongoing Twitter fixation: it’s really not taking away anything from my blogging. I still wouldn’t blog more frequently just to post tidbits, links, cryptic poetry, SMS wisdom and general nonsense, at least not until Blogentis gets some proper miniposts functionality; maybe not even then.
PS2: You’re right to think I’m being a cold hearted bastard for taking offense at cute birdies and silly robots; it’s been a cold hearted kind of week thus far.
