International Women’s Day
Another instantiation of a meaningless meme, this one more hypocritical and insulting to the object of celebration than most.
As if women are not in our hearts and minds on every walking moment (and some of the sleeping ones); as if we could, or should, love, respect and understand them more on this day than on others.
Might as well have an Observance for breath, air and water; the sun and the moon.
PS: My personal favorite of the UN Observances is the International Day for Biological Diversity (22/5)’ respecting your right to grow tentacles or devolve into an amoeba!
In truth, biological diversity is a typical example of an all-encompassing and meaningless concept, at least to the great masses of mankind which revere the superiority and dominance of the human race above all, for reasons of self preservation (or so they justify it).
